Wine
Noon Winery Eclipse is a blend of predominantly estate grown Grenache with smaller components of Langhorne Creek Shiraz and estate Graciano.
The Grenache and Graciano are from three bush vine vineyards surrounding and adjacent to the McLaren Vale winery, some planted as early as 1934. Drew Noon has pruned and tended these old vines since childhood.
The grapes are harvested fully ripe and ferment in small open vats with manual punching down to extract colour and tannins. The wine is hand pressed in a small, gentle basket press to avoid astringency.
It is then aged for 18 months in French and American oak barrels and large format foudre oak casks. A small proportion of new oak is used to mature the Shiraz component.
Deep red, Noon Winery Eclipse is full bodied, balancing sweet fruit flavours and spice with a firm tannin finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
